Municipal Pool
The Macon Municipal Swimming Pool
officially opened June 22, 1938. For over sixty
years, the pool has been the most popular outdoor acre of
land in Macon each summer. It has provided a cool, wet
recreation for toddlers, teens, and their parents
throughout northeast Missouri.
The unique circular design and
mammoth size make it the largest single outdoor pool in the state.
The perimeter of the pool comprises the “shallow end” measuring only
three feet deep all the way around. The pool gradually gets deeper
toward the middle of the structure. Toddlers can play in the baby
pool, which measure from one to two feet deep, located on the north end
of the facility. And sunbathing areas on the east and west sides
of the pool enhance its popularity with its swimmers.
